Lucapa Diamond Company recovered a 172.67-carat diamond from its Lulo mine in Angola, following a string of large discoveries at the deposit.

The “exceptional” D-color, type-IIa diamond was the latest “special” stone of more than 10.8 carats to come from the mine’s alluvial mining operations. Lucapa discovered a 104-carat, D-color diamond at the mine last week and unearthed 59 specials in July alone after extracting 53 in the January to June period. It is the fifth diamond above 100 carats found at Lulo this year.
