Hong Kong-based auction house Tiancheng International recorded sales of $29 million (HKD 228 million) in 2016, boosted by a Cartier necklace that went under the hammer this month.

Sales were generated from auctions in June and December, while the company also hosted a charity event in June. All the sales were held in Hong Kong.

The December auction was 63 percent sold by lot and almost 60 percent sold by value, Tiancheng said. The event was led by a 42.42-carat Cartier sapphire necklace from the Mogok region in Myanmar. Described as natural unheated and with "cornflower blue" color, the piece fetched $2.6 million.
