Lucapa Diamond Company will sell two D-color, type-IIa rough diamonds weighing 129 and 78 carats in early 2018, the miner announced.

“The timing of this sale is designed to maximize sale proceeds by selling into a usually stronger-demand period at the beginning of the year,” the company said in a statement last week. The first months of the year are typically a strong period for rough sales as manufacturers look to replenish their stocks following the holidays.

The sale will include a combined 2,160 carats of rough diamonds that Lucapa extracted from its Lulo mine in Angola in November.
