Rapaport Comment on Fabrikant

(Rapaport...June 21, 2006) Based upon the limited information available to us, it is our opinion that while Fabrikant is going through a critical period of serious negotiations, the unsubstantiated rumors and rampant speculation circulating about the company are false.
Fabrikant was established in 1895 and has been a mainstay of the international diamond trade for decades. They have supported wholesalers and retailers through the toughest of times and they have earned a solid reputation as honest people.
At this critical juncture for Fabrikant we advise the trade to calm down and stop circulating unsubstantiated rumors. The trade should let the company do its best to put its financial house in order in a positive environment. While we are concerned --and do not know what the results of Fabrikant's negotiations and efforts will be-- we do know that based upon its history and integrity Fabrikant has earned and deserves industry support.
