RAPAPORT... Diamond Foundry has become the second lab-grown producer this year to make a hire from rough brokerage firm I. Hennig & Co., bringing in Aditya Shah as vice president of sales in its Dubai office.

Shah began at Diamond Foundry in mid-January, a company spokesperson confirmed to Rapaport News Tuesday. He reports to Toby Cruse, a former De Beers executive, who joined the San Francisco-based business in 2020 as vice president of global sales.

Earlier this month, Israel’s Lusix announced it had recruited Eyal Axelrod, who had been a rough broker and consultant at I. Hennig.

“Lab-grown is an expanding business and it’s inevitable that some executives will move from long-established natural-diamond brands into the [lab-grown] sector,” said Arik Sela, I. Hennig’s managing director, noting that De Beers and other large companies had also seen multiple people make the switch. “Accordingly, an element of turnover is not only inevitable but also healthy.”
