SDA, DIC Hold Seminar for Diamond Workers in Surat

Press Release: The Surat Diamond Association (SDA) and District Industries Centre (DIC), organized a seminar on October 3, 2012 at Zankhvav, near Mandvi in Surat, to inform people about the different schemes of DIC, Surat and opportunities present in the diamond industry.
The seminar was attended by artisans as well as manufacturers. There are few diamond manufacturing units which are functional at Zankhvav. Both men and women from Zankhvav and other nearby places work at these units.
Samir Joshi, the director at Indian Diamond Institute (IDI), Surat was the key speaker at the seminar. He shed light on the present scenario and future development for the gems and jewelry industry in India. Showing statistics, he said that the manpower requirements for this industry are increasing day by day as there are many advanced developments. Therefore, there is demand for workers with new and improved skills.
Joshi also concluded that this industry will always have opportunities for people be it from the fields of design, polishing, grading or manufacturing.
Dhaval Parikh, the general manager at DIC, informed attendees about the different schemes run by DIC for the gems and jewelry industry. He talked about the schemes of interest subsidy, term loans, among others and invited the industry to take advantage of these offerings.
Dinesh Navadiya, the president of SDA, stated that manpower demand is increasing in the gem and jewelry industry and people should engage this opportunity without fail.
