RAPAPORT... UBM Asia's  Jewellery & Gem Fair Europe anticipates 6,000 visitors will attend its inaugural event in Freiburg, Germany from April 1 to 4, where it has signed up 430 exhibitors. Organizers opened free visitor registration through March 28.

The Jewellery & Gem Fair Europe will kick off on April 1 with a ceremony conducted by Martin Haag, the deputy mayor of Freiburg.

UBM Asia's senior vice president, Wolfram Diener, said,  "We have some of the world's major jewelry manufacturers and producers participating and we are extremely proud to have such an international array of exhibitors. They represent the highest level of quality and value in the industry and provide great business opportunities for the visitors we expect at the show."

Organizers arranged for the main customs office from Lörrach to set up a desk at the fair to help facilitate clearance for sales and purchases by non-residents.

Seminar sessions at the event include presentations by the German Gemmological Society and The USE Education Centre of Pforzheim and there will be jewelry-themed guided tours of the host city, which boasts a thriving jewelry industry.
