RAPAPORT... Dominion Diamond Corporation appointed former De Beers executive Tim Dabson as a director. The Canada-based miner also added mergers and acquisition (M&A) specialist Trudy Curran to its board.

Dabson spent 33 years at De Beers in several roles, most recently as executive director for beneficiation. In 2013, he was closely involved in the transfer of the company’s international distribution activities to Botswana from London. After leaving De Beers, Dabson set up a consultancy firm for the diamond industry.

Curran has 30 years’ experience across M&A, financing, executive pay and governance. She was an officer at Canadian Oil Sands Limited from 2002 to the time of its sale to Suncor Energy earlier this year. She held the position of senior vice-president, general counsel and corporate secretary and has sat on boards of various companies.

“Trudy’s experience in mergers and acquisitions along with corporate governance and Tim’s experience across the whole of the diamond industry value chain will be strong additions to what is already a diverse skill set of the board,” said James Gowans, chairman of Dominion’s board.
