RAPAPORT... Jewelry retailer James Avery plans to build a new retail store and visitor center at its corporate headquarters in Kerrville, Texas. The company broke ground this week in the Texas Hill Country on its new 4,000-square-foot facility that was designed by David Martin of A3 Studio in collaboration with in-house architect Howell Ridout and the Avery family. Careful attention was paid to integrating the retailer's new  look with the traditional hill country architecture.

A greatly expanded visitors center overlooks a park  setting where visitors and travelers may gather and relax, according to the firm. The project was supported with services from Maxwell Engineering of Kerrville and San Antonio’s Emil Swize & Associates Engineers and is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2014.

Ridout said, “We are very excited about the new store and visitors center that will enable customers to experience the inspiration, artistry and symbolism in our work. The visitors center will feature six exhibit areas, including the use of some multimedia, telling the Avery story from our history and values to the inspiration and fine craftsmanship of our designs. Our hope is to attract individuals and families from across the nation and enhance their visit to the Texas Hill Country.”

In other news, the retailer is relocating its store in Alpharetta, Georgia from Mansell Crossing to North Point Mall. This store will open in November. Ridout stated that the North Point store will debut its new design, featuring  in-store imagery and messaging that acts as a symbolism behind the brand's artistry. James Avery operates 69 stores across the South and Midwest.
