Press Release: The New York State Jewelers Association (NYSJA) will be holding its fourth annual Golf Outing on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Willow Ridge Country Club in Harrison, New York. The group has announced that a portion of the proceeds from this event will be donated to Jewelers for Children (JFC), the industry charity.

The outing will start off with a sumptuous brunch and later a barbecue grill lunch will be served on the course. There will be other snacks and beverages throughout the day, and a cocktail hour on the terrace overlooking the vista of the golf course. An auction will be held with valuable prizes, including sports memorabilia. Then, the annual “Favorite Awards” will be presented during the event’s closing dinner.

“We welcome any opportunity to help children in need with the kind of support that Jewelers for Children provides,” said Michael Wilson, NYSJA's president and vice president of Wilson & Son Jewelers in Scarsdale and Mount Kisco. “The more companies that attend our golf outing, fund sponsorships, or donate to the auction, the larger the donation NYSJA can make to Jewelers for Children.”

Since its inception, JFC has donated more than $40 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse, or neglect through its charity partners St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the National CASA Association. JFC also provides support to the Make-A-Wish Foundation International and the Santa-America Fund.

“The nationwide success of Jewelers for Children is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations such as the NYSJA, as well as from various jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals, and jewelry consumers,” said JFC's chairman, Peter Engel of Fred Meyer Jewelry. “We are grateful for all that New York State jewelers are doing to support our cause.”

The Golf Outing has already secured some fabulous prizes, including a BMW, sponsored by Ray Catena’s BMW of Westchester County as a “Hole in One Prize.” Sponsorships and tickets are now available online via the NYSJA website: http://www.newyorkjewelers.org/. For additional information on tickets, sponsorships, or auction donations, please contact Barbara Keefe, NYSJA executive director, 212.290.1555 or email bkeeferose-at-aol.com.
