RAPAPORT... Alrosa sold $9.5 million worth of rough diamonds at a
large-stone auction in Dubai, the Russian miner said this week.
The 141 diamonds — each over 10.8 carats — weighed a combined
2,140 carats, and fetched an average price of $4,439 per carat, Alrosa reported
Tuesday.
Companies from India, Belgium, the United Arab Emirates,
Israel, Hong Kong and Russia participated in the auction, with 28 firms making
purchases.
The auction was the last of four that Alrosa has held in
Dubai this year. Those sales have garnered about $40 million, it added. Image: Rough-diamond sorting. (Alrosa)
