RAPAPORT... Everledger has partnered with three major industry organizations to offer traceability for a 30-carat diamond from the Karowe mine in Botswana.

The technology company teamed up with India-based manufacturer Hari Krishna Exports, miner Lucara Diamond Corp., and the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to share provenance details for the stone on its blockchain platform, the companies said last week.

Lucara, which owns Karowe, unearthed the diamond, which Hari Krishna subsequently cut and polished at its factory in Surat, India, and named it the Brilliant Lucara Diamond. The manufacturer’s customers in the retail sector will be able to view the stone through Everledger’s platform. The verified country of origin, Botswana, also appears on the platform via the stone’s GIA Diamond Origin Report, which confirms the provenance of polished goods by matching them to the original rough.
