Press Release: The Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America (DMIA) urges its members to take part in a seminar on the special safety and security measures required for jewelers, to be organized and presented by the New York City Police Department (NYPD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

The seminar, an initiative of the 47th Street Business Improvement District (47th Street BID), will be held Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the Metropolitan National Bank, 16 West 46th Street, nearby Manhattan's Diamond District. Admission is free to anyone in the industry, although reservations will be required.

"This is an important seminar and I encourage our members to attend and distribute the information about the event to their colleagues and clients," said DMIA's president, Ronnie VanderLinden. "While we do have our own highly respected security-dedicated industry institutions and organizations, such as the Jewelers' Security Alliance, the fact that both the NYPD and the FBI are offering a seminar on security is proof of how high these security issues are on the agenda, not only on that of the diamond district, but also to the city and the federal government."

The seminar was formatted as an early morning meeting, starting at 9:30 a.m., so that out-of-town commuters who work in the city can also easily attend.  A catered, kosher breakfast will be provided free of charge. To reserve space or for any question, email info-at-diamonddistrict.org.
