Jewelry Information Center Announces GEM Award Nominees

 Press Release: The Jewelry Information Center (JIC), the consumer education arm of Jewelers of America (JA), has announced three GEM Award nominees in the categories of communications, design and media excellence. This is a new format for the GEM Awards gala, now in its 12th year, as the winner in each category will be revealed live during the ceremony on Friday, January 10, 2014, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York. The nominees are individuals and companies whose work amplifies JIC’s mission to raise the visibility and status of fine jewelry and watches.

The nominees for the GEM Award for communications are: 

• LoveGold – An initiative by the World Gold Council that seeks the world’s most beautiful gold jewelry, the designers creating it and the people wearing it.
• TACORI – Spanning five decades, TACORI has become internationally recognized for their signature crescent silhouette design and their marketing of fine jewelry.
• Tiffany & Co. – With a commitment to quality, craftsmanship and excellent customer service, the masterpieces of Tiffany & Co. have defined style, celebrated the world’s great love stories and graced major events for more than 175 years.

The nominees for the GEM Award for design are:

• Irene Neuwirth – In the past decade, Irene’s uniquely modern and sophisticated designs have made Irene Neuwirth Jewelry emerge as a leading independent jewelry brand. Her collections deliver a precise balance between timeless, collectable jewelry and the ultimate statement in modern luxury.
• Kara Ross –In 2003, Kara founded the company Kara Ross, which has rapidly grown from its origins in fine jewelry. Kara’s designs are known for their bold and unique use of exotic skins and gemstones across several jewelry lines, handbags and belts.
• Monica Rich Kosann – As creative director and founder of Monica Rich Kosann Fine Jewelry, Monica’s modern yet classic jewelry designs offer her customers heirlooms for today’s generation while maintaining an enduring sense of fashion and timeless style.

The nominees for the GEM Award for media excellence are:

• Beth Bernstein – jewelry editor, writer and author of My Charmed Life and Jewelry’s Shining Stars, whose work has appeared in ''Instore,'' ''Indesign,'' ''Accent Magazine,'' ''Departures'' and ''More Magazine'' among others.
• Benjamin Clymer – founder and executive editor of HODINKEE, one of the most widely read online wristwatch publications in the world.
• Victoria Gomelsky – editor in chief of ''JCK,'' whose freelance work has appeared in the International Herald Tribune, the New York Times and ''WSJ Magazine'' among others.

GEM Awards 2014 will also honor a recipient in the category of Lifetime Achievement. The winner of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award will be announced soon.
