Press Release: Taché announced to all of its clients and partners that the long-awaited automated melee screening device from De Beers has arrived at its office in Paris. The screening device is designed to verify the authenticity of natural diamonds in melee sizes, from 0.01-carat to 0.20-carat. The device is able to screen approximately 360 stones pre hour using fibre optic. “The issue about undisclosed synthetics is almost exclusively in very small stones like 10- or 12-pointers, or under a quarter of a carat,” said Russell Shor, an analyst at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), who predicts an increase in undisclosed activity as production becomes faster and cheaper – the Financial Times reports. The device contributes to the expansion of Taché’s traceability program. The program was set up in 2007 to provide our customers with comfort and reassurance about the integrity of our supply chain. A series of strict internal control processes, in the form of new IT and restructuring programs, were implemented in our offices and factories worldwide.
