Robbers Steal $750,000 of Diamonds and Jewelry From Salesman in LA

RAPAPORT... Robbers stole of $750,000 worth of goods from a 50-year-old jewelry salesman Thursday evening in the parking lot of a kosher deli on Los Angeles’ West Pico Boulevard.
Two robbers dressed in black and with their faces covered by ski masks assaulted the salesman and took three bags with $750,000 of diamonds, pearls and jewelry and $5,000 in cash. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics.
The thieves escaped in a getaway car, a light-colored compact sedan believed to be a Toyota, which was waiting nearby. Police told CBS Los Angeles that the incident was not a random assault and robbery, but that it appeared that the suspects had deliberately targeted the salesman. The suspects were said to have been unarmed.
This was the fifth jewelry robbery to take place in Los Angeles since the beginning of the year, according to Itay Hendel, founder and CEO of jeweler security consultancy ISPS.
