Asian Star Sales Jump in Fiscal 2Q

RAPAPORT... Asian Star reported revenue rose 28 percent in the second fiscal quarter, helping the Mumbai-based diamond manufacturer to record a larger profit.

Net sales grew to $124.2 million (INR 8.38 billion) in the three months that ended September 30, while total comprehensive income after tax increased 18 percent to $2.6 million (INR 176.8 million). Revenue from diamonds jumped 24 percent to $111.4 million (INR 7.52 billion), with sales in the jewelry division up 34 percent to $19.8 million (INR 1.34 billion).

In the first fiscal half, group sales grew 14 percent to $251 million (INR 16.94 billion), while total comprehensive income after tax climbed 7 percent to $5.5 million (INR 368.3 million).
