RAPAPORT... Rory Moore will take on the role of CEO at Arctic Canadian Diamond Company after serving as interim president since February.

Arctic’s owners and board of directors unanimously approved Moore for the lead position, the miner said last week. The decision follows his progress with restarting the Ekati deposit and stabilizing mining operations after it was on care and maintenance, the company noted.

“I have a very clear vision for the future, and our leadership team is highly motivated to deliver a long and profitable future for Ekati, so that we can continue to provide significant socioeconomic opportunities and benefits to the north [of Canada],” Moore noted.

Moore has a long history in the diamond-mining industry. Before being appointed interim president, he was vice president of exploration for former Ekati owner Dominion Diamond Mines. He also served as CEO of Kennady Diamonds and Canabrava Diamond Corp. As diamond exploration manager for previous Ekati owner BHP, Moore was part of the team that initially discovered and evaluated the site’s kimberlites.

“Under the leadership of Rory Moore, Kristal Kaye, chief financial officer, and Gary Eyres, general manager of operations, Arctic has a long and successful future ahead,” said Andrew Petitjean, a representative of Ekati’s ownership group. “We have full confidence that Rory and his team have the required vision, expertise and experience to deliver the long-term strategic goals of the company.”
