RAPAPORT... Sotheby’s will hold its Magnificent Jewels and Noble Jewels auction in Geneva in June, its first live sale since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

The auction will be held in two parts, Sotheby’s told Rapaport News Wednesday. The first portion, an online sale, will run from June 16 to 24, and will include jewelry from the 19th century through the present day, from jewelers such as Cartier, Suzanne Belperron, René Boivin and Hemmerle.

Part II will take place live on June 23, and will feature the Sunrise Diamond ring, a 100.52-carat, fancy-intense yellow, VS2-clarity stone. That piece is estimated at CHF 3 million to CHF 5 million ($3.1 million to $5.2 million).

Other notable pieces from the live sale include a pear-shaped, fancy-intense blue diamond ring with a pear-shaped white diamond, which carries a presale estimate of $1 million to $1.5 million. A ring featuring a Ceylon sapphire weighing 105.89 carats will also be up for auction.

Sotheby’s will exhibit the jewels from June 20 to 23 prior to the auction, with viewings by appointment only due to health-and-safety requirements.

The auction house also plans to hold its live Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels sale on July 10, it added.
