Press Release: UBM India is partnering with eBay India (www.ebay.in) to educate jewelry manufacturers and retailers on current online trends for selling online.  In India, UBM holds the leading position with events in jewelry with Gems and Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE) in Chennai, Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair (HJF), Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair (MJGF) and this year with the much awaited Delhi Jewellery Gem Fair (DJGF) shows.

As a result of partnering with  eBay for this education effort,  UBM India can extend a multitude of benefits for manufacturers and retailers in the jewelry industry, including a free three-month basic e-Store subscription, zero setup costs for e-commerce operations, 24 hour a day operations online, ability to export directly to end-consumers across 39 countries and  increase revenue to international consumers, and higher price realization and profits.

“e-Commerce is increasingly becoming mainstream, with entrepreneurial Indians exporting products to a wide audience internationally. eBay presents a great entrepreneurial opportunity for Indian merchants to leverage the eBay global platform and large buyer base of more than 102 million active users across the world,” noted Abhimanyu Lal, the head of category management at eBay India. "We are keen to evangelize to entrepreneurs to provide them with the ability to scale their businesses globally and grow their sales profitably and sustainably. In fact, jewelry is a very popular category on eBay India and comprises 38 percent of all retail exports.”

Sanjeev Khaira, managing director of UBM India, said, “We are delighted to have a major brand like eBay on board to support our portfolio of jewelry shows in India. I believe that the world's leading online trading platform working with us is a reflection of UBM’s global strength in the sector and more specifically shows how UBM is innovating across the four jewelry shows it holds in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai.”

“Our newest launch in Delhi, is designed to cater to retailers in the north and northeast of the country who will be able to see a wide range of product from across India and beyond. Delhi will come hot on the heels of Hyderabad, which takes place at HITEX on June 22 to 24, this show is growing steadily as it serves the key southern states of India which account for 60 percent of India's vast gold consumption,” he added.

Khaira said, “UBM is very optimistic about the market in India, all of the jewelry shows are growing well and we see the opportunity to develop new offerings to serve this key market. We look forward to working with the whole industry to deliver the shows and other products that help them to do business.”

UBM plans to expand and grow across India in the coming years. In partnership with eBay, UBM is able to deliver innovative business strategies to the jewelry trade and will continue to ensure that business in India moves strongly ahead into the digital age by providing educational seminars to help retailers move ahead in e-commerce, locally and internationally.
