Press Release: Fashion designer John Varvatos and Swiss watch brand Ernst Benz continue their successful collaboration, releasing two all new interpretations of the limited edition John Varvatos ChronoScope. This highly anticipated, exclusive series of only 25 pieces of each version continues a partnership that has been well received by both the watch and fashion industries.
This new generation of Great Circle timepieces designed by Varvatos now features matte black dials and a matching black diamond like carbon (DLC) case, which embodies the designers edgy, yet sophisticated appeal. A new staple of the Ernst Benz collection, this unique black coating is developed from military aviation technology and provides both a scratch resistant finish and is an updated interpretation of the vintage aesthetic Ernst Benz is renowned for. Offered exclusively in 47mm, the angled bezel and rectangular pushers are signature features of the Varvatos interpretation of Ernst Benz. Vintage parchment watch hands and black luminous numbers, matching the markers, complete the watch’s detailed design. 
Offered in two versions, this timepiece serves as a testament to the union that bonds Varvatos’ dedication to innovative design with Ernst Benz’s quality craftsmanship. The first version is matte black with black Arabic numerals, parchment printing and the John Varvatos logo in the designer’s signature red with a matching sweep second chronograph hand. The second version uses the signature red to highlight in addition the minutes, second and hours in the chronograph counters and minute track. The dials are individually numbered 1/25 to 25/25 with a matching engraved case to match.
This series is the first Varvatos edition of Ernst Benz timepieces to implement the new Ernst Benz Great Circle case production, which includes an update to the signature 2mm thick convex crystal, now coated underneath with five layers of anti-reflective film, allowing for maximum clarity and enhanced visibility of the dial. The new, larger sapphire glass on the back of this new model now exposes more of the movement’s intricate components and shows the escapement ticking and the balance wheel oscillating, a feature watch connoisseurs will relish.
Ernst Benz’s signature aviator strap has been remade in Cayman Island alligator with a distinct all matte black finish, adherent of Varvatos’ sleek, rock-n-roll influenced aesthetic. The straps are available with accenting by either a matching black stitch, an ecru stitch to match the parchment hands and dial printing, or red stitch to match the signature Varvatos red. This timepiece will be delivered in a magnificent, custom box, designed personally by Varvatos for the series. The box is wrapped entirely in his signature leather, featuring whip stitching on the sides and a unique enclosure for the timepiece, creating the designer’s complete vision.
