Press Release: Gemological Science International (GSI), one of the largest independently owned gemological laboratories in the world, hosted its first GSI Diamond Community Lunch on May 14, 2015 at The Gateway Hotel in Surat. GSI organized this exclusive educational luncheon for  members of the diamond industry who play a significant role in the trade. GSI’s head of education,  Vidhya Mazumdar, conducted a short presentation on the difference between inclusions in natural versus synthetic diamonds and this was followed by an intense question and answer session, where various issues were addressed with regards to synthetic diamonds and their identification.

The guests of honor included Dinesh Navadiya, the president of the Surat Diamond Association, and committee members. Other guests included diamond and jewelry manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and the media.

Navadiya congratulated GSI on its initiative.  “This seminar was extremely useful and we look forward to more such events organized by GSI in the near future,” he said. The session offered the  opportunity to traders to learn  information that will help them send certain stones for further testing, based on what was discussed during the presentation. The event achieved a remarkable success and was a delightful experience for the participants in Surat.
