Xcel Agrees to Acquire C. Wonder

RAPAPORT...  Xcel Brands Inc. agreed to acquire the C. Wonder brand, including trademarks, designs and intellectual property rights. Xcel is a brand development and media company that owns Judith Ripka, Issac Mizrahi, H by Halston and H Halston brands as well as designs and manages the Liz Claiborne New York brand. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

C. Wonder, founded by J. Christopher Burch in 2011, offered jewelry,  women's clothing, footwear, housewares and home décor. It filed Chapter 11 in January. Burch Acquisition LLC, which is controlled by Burch, acquired the C. Wonder brand (including trademarks and intellectual property rights) to explore strategic opportunities.

The acquisition is subject to board approval and customary closing conditions.
