RAPAPORT... American Gem Society (AGS) Laboratories has begun offering grading reports for diamonds set into jewelry, it said in a statement this month.

The Mounted Diamond Evaluation Reports include color and clarity grades; total carat weight as provided by the manufacturer; a description of the jewelry; and verification of the mounting stamp indicating the precious metal quality, the statement said January 12. Reports will also confirm that diamonds are natural and untreated.

The new report is presented in a credit card-sized format and includes a sample photo of graded jewelry. It is for diamonds larger than 0.18 carats.
