Petra Diamonds sold a 121.26-carat rough diamond for $6 million in Johannesburg in June, the miner reported.

A joint venture between Nemesis International and Golden Yellow Diamonds, two diamond manufacturers specializing in large stones, bought the white diamond for $49,480 per carat. The gem was recovered at the Cullinan mine in South Africa.

The Johannesburg tender was Petra’s last for its fiscal year that ended June 30.

Earlier this month a cut-cornered rectangular mixed-cut, 24.18-carat, fancy intense blue, VS2 polished diamond originating from a rough gem mined by Petra at Cullinan fetched $25.4 million at a Christie’s auction. The price translated to 1 million per carat. The 122.52-carat rough was sold for $23.5 million, or $225,269 per carat, in 2014.
