Jim Rosenheim to Be Honored at GEM Awards

RAPAPORT... Jim Rosenheim, who turned Tiny Jewel Box in Washington D.C. into an iconic institution and is credited with discovering designers, has been chosen for the 2017 GEM Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Rosenheim will be presented with the accolade at the 15th annual GEM Awards on January 13, 2017, at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York, Jewelers of America (JA) and the GEM Awards Committee announced.

Rosenheim helped his family grow Tiny Jewel Box into an “iconic” Washington, D.C. store with international renown, JA said. His career at the jeweler started when he was 12. He was a lapidary and bench jeweler by the age of 18 and today he leads the companyas chairman.

He was one of the first jewelers to bring “bold,” Italian jewelry to the forefront in the U.S. and is credited with discovering designers including David Yurman and Alex Sepkus, according to JA.
