Christie’s garnered $7.8 million (EUR 6.9 million) at an auction in Paris Tuesday — the highest amount it has received for a jewelry sale in the French capital.

Leading the auction was a Cartier “belle epoque” diamond-and-platinum necklace, which fetched $1.6 million, a record for a piece of jewelry at Christie’s Paris. Another Cartier item, a coral and diamond bracelet, drew a top bid of $422,473 — more than 12 times its pre-sale estimate.

Overall, the auction sold 88% by lot and 97% by value, Christie’s said.
