RAPAPORT... Online diamond retailer Blue Nile has appointed former Tiffany & Co. CEO Frédéric Cumenal to its board of directors.

Cumenal (pictured) left Tiffany in February, having been in the top job since April 2015. He was previously the New York-based jeweler’s president and had served on its board.

“Frédéric’s global experience in our dynamic industry, and deep understanding of the consumer and the market, will be extremely valuable to Blue Nile,” said Blue Nile CEO Jason Goldberger. “We will have the benefit of his extensive experience and strategic counsel as we continually expand and improve our e-commerce platform to grow and reach more consumers.”

An investor group comprising Bain Capital Private Equity, Bow Street and Adama Partners acquired Blue Nile in February for $500 million.
