Global retail stocks fell amid a resurgence of Covid-19 cases and a rise in unemployment. Richemont (-4%), Signet (-4%), Swatch (-3%), Chow Sang Sang (-2%) and Chow Tai Fook (-2%) all slipped. Birks (-28%) dropped following disappointing sales results. Mining shares fared well, with Lucapa (+8%), Rio Tinto (+8%), Lucara (+6%), Anglo American (+6%) and Gem Diamonds (+6%) all gaining. Petra Diamonds (-4%) lost ground after shareholders failed to approve a bid to restructure its debt.
