The Rapaport Diamond Report deeply mourns the passing of Richard T.

Liddicoat, chairman of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Mr.

Liddicoat was a wonderful, kind and considerate human being who dearly

loved all of us in the diamond, gem and jewelry trade. He was a

visionary who had a profound impact on the diamond industry and whose

contributions will set the standard for honesty and integrity for

generations to come.

Mr. Liddicoat was a great man. He was great not only because of his

many accomplishments, but because of his values and the type of person

he was. His warmth, modesty, selflessness, devotion and concern for

others set a shining example for all who knew him. Our community has

suffered a great loss with the passing of Richard T. Liddicoat. Let us

endeavor to live up to the example that his life has set before us.
