Global retail stocks rose as investors anticipated higher spending on the back of the vaccine rollout and the second US stimulus package. Signet (+18%), Macy’s (+5%) and Chow Tai Fook (+2%) all gained. Mining stocks had a tough week, with Lucara (-3%), Rio Tinto (-2%), Lucapa (-1%) and Mountain Province (-1%) slipping. Alrosa (+3%) gained after reporting strong results, while Gem Diamonds (+4%) climbed following the recovery of a 147-carat diamond.
