RAPAPORT... The World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) will hold its 2021 congress virtually, after canceling last year’s session due to Covid-19.

The event will take place from November 1 to 4 and from November 15 to 18, CIBJO said last week. The new platform will allow delegates to mingle and interact in a common area, between and during formal meetings, the organization noted.

The annual congress is where CIBJO introduces amendments to its Blue Book directories and conducts its sector meetings. Some sessions at the conference will be open to public participation, while others will be by invitation only.

“We would have been delighted to hold an in-person event, but ultimately felt that under current conditions a virtual congress is the safer alternative, allowing the participation of the greatest number of delegates,” CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri said. “There is a great deal to report and discuss, not least of which is how our industry is being impacted and changed by the...pandemic.”
