RAPAPORT... Christie’s will offer a rare round 12.04-carat fancy intense pink diamond at its Hong Kong Magnificent Jewels sale, which will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center on May 29.

The diamond, which Christie’s claims is the “largest round fancy intense pink diamond to ever appear at auction,” was purchased from Harry Winston in 1976 from a private collector and named “Martian Pink” by Ronald Winston because of its intense color.  It is estimated to be worth between $8 million to $10 million.

Offered alongside the Martian Pink at the sale will be a 11.85-carat, D, VVS1 potentially flawless round brilliant-cut diamond, which Christie’s estimated is to be worth $1.7 million to $2.5 million.
