Press Release:  With more estate jewelry coming out of the vault and walking in to the retail jeweler, there is no better time to brush up on your knowledge of the antique and estate jewelry market. And there is no better place to do just that and more than the 36th Annual Antique Jewelry & Art Conference, lovingly known to many as “Jewelry Camp.”

This August, the conference will run in conjunction with “The Atlanta Jewelry Show” and with so much to do in Atlanta it is surely to be not only educational and informative but a great networking opportunity as well.  So join us August 1 to 3, 2013 for the 36th Annual Antique Jewelry & Art Conference and then extend your stay and be a part of The Atlanta Jewelry Show which runs August 3 to 5 at the same location.

In these economic times we need to get tough, focused and smart. At Jewelry Camp you will meet and learn from some of the top experts in buying, selling, appraising and collecting.

The list of experts is impressive.

He has the largest collection of natural ivories, natural and manufactured look-alikes available for hands-on teaching. He is co-founder of the International Ivory Society. Since 1996 he has been teaching ivory identification through his talks, seminars and hands-on workshops. He is also the manufacturer of Ivory I.D. comparison kits. He is a (GG) Graduate Gemologist (GIA) (1982), a (PG) Professional Gemologist Columbia School of Gemology (1983) and ivory identification specialist. He has written Arizona Photographers 1850 - 1920: A History and Directory, Arizona Real Photo Postcards: A History and Portfolio, and Arizona Stereographs 1865 - 1930. He has also written numerous articles on photographic history including chapters on Disclosing Historic Photographs in the Sage Handbook of Visual Research Methods. He curated exhibitions with many regional museums, and a permanent exhibit at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. He is a scholar and speaker for the Arizona Humanities Council and lectures regularly on the history of photography.

Rowe's research interests revolve around historic photographs as primary research documents, and in understanding the contextual and embedded information contained in each image. He has been working on geo-referencing historic images and photographic businesses as part of his efforts to analyze individual and groups of images and better understand the patterns and relationships within collections of images. He serves on several boards, including the Daguerreian Society, National Stereoscopic Association, the Ephemera Society of America, and INFOCUS (the collaboration between the Phoenix Art Museum and center for Creative Photography). Rowe is working on photographic research projects in Arizona and New York City and on visiting private and public photographic collections as his research continues.

As you can see from just this partial list of experts, Jewelry Camp will be no better place to enhance your knowledge of antique and estate jewelry, to network, renew old friendships, and make new ones.

And, if you are looking for a position, more knowledge to enhance your current job or conversely, if you are able to offer an opening to, or are looking for new people, Jewelry Camp is the place to be.

To be held at Cobb Galleria Centre in Atlanta,  just minutes away from downtown  and the Atlanta Airport, the Antique Jewelry & Art Conference is considered by many to be the best jeweler’s working vacation.

The goal of Jewelry Camp is to function as an educational tool to promote knowledge in antique and estate jewelry not only to the jewelry industry and collectors but also to the public. It is our aim to create a community for networking to aid in the dissemination of knowledge.

In this fast paced world, it is important to rely on each other for education, support as well as networking. We must take the time to help as well as learn from each other.

This summer Jewelry Camp is bringing new speakers, old favorites and friends from the past to help the dealer and collector prepare for the growing demand for antique and estate Jewelry. Programs on Victorian, Edwardian and art deco jewelry, silver, costume, colored stones, pearls and diamonds.
