RAPAPORT... Kimberley Diamonds’ executive director Rod Sainty resigned from the miner’s board, effective Tuesday.

Sainty was one of three directors who were sued for $17 million by liquidators at the Australian insolvency firm Jirsch Sutherland over allegations, including trading while insolvent. The company said it and the directors intend to defend the claims.

Sainty “has been a valued director and has made a significant contribution to the company, particularly in relation to his key role in the acquisition of the Lomero project in Spain,” a company statement said, referring to the gold and copper project awarded by the Government of Andalucia earlier this year.
