RAPAPORT... Tiffany & Co. said Lady Gaga will appear in its debut Super Bowl commercial on Sunday.
The 60-second clip features the singer speaking unscripted about
her lifelong passion for the brand, Tiffany said. While the luxury retailer has
handcrafted the Vince Lombardi Trophy for the Super Bowl in each of the past 50
years, it has never before aired a commercial during the high-profile annual
American football event.
The snippet is part of a campaign entitled Legendary Style, which features women whom the company considers to have confidence, beauty and substance. Tiffany is using the advertising drive to launch a new fashion-jewelry collection, Tiffany HardWear, which includes earrings, rings, necklaces and pendants containing 18-karat gold and sterling silver.
“The brand is definitive and iconic, yet continues to push and evolve with the times,” Lady Gaga said. “To me, Tiffany represents timeless American jewelry.”
Tiffany’s in-house team directed the advertisement in
partnership with Grace Coddington, the former model and creative director
of American Vogue magazine, with whom the jeweler announced a collaboration
last year. The film will be available on Tiffany’s website, with campaign
images appearing in print and digital channels throughout the spring.
A 15-second preview was released in advance on the company’s YouTube page.
