RAPAPORT... Bonhams has appointed Brett O’Connor as senior international jewelry director and senior vice president of its US operations, the auction house said Tuesday.

O’Connor makes the move after 16 years at Sotheby’s Geneva, where he was one of the lead auctioneers for the company’s major jewelry sales in Geneva, Hong Kong, London and New York. He was also responsible for global sourcing of jewelry, and for working with and advising top clients on their collections.

“[O’Connor] has an excellent track record and is extremely well-regarded within the industry,” said Bonhams global head of jewelry Jean Ghika. “I am particularly looking forward to working with him to further build our presence in the US and Asia, which are some of the most important and fastest-growing markets for jewelry.”

A 24-year auction-house veteran, O’Connor also worked for Christie’s and Phillips. He will begin his new position in November, and will be based in New York.
