RAPAPORT... The American Gem Society (AGS) has canceled its Conclave amid gathering restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“The decision was made in light of a national state of emergency that was declared on Friday of last week and amidst growing concerns of the…outbreak,” the organization said Monday.

While AGS will not reschedule the event, which was slated to take place in Denver, Colorado, from April 27 to 29, it is exploring options for a virtual mini-conference for later in the year. It also plans to enhance its online learning center and further increase its channels of professional development.

“Conclave is more than an event, it’s an experience,” said AGS CEO Katherine Bodoh. “We are tremendously saddened by our decision, but we saw no other choice. The health of our members is a priority.”

AGS’s 2021 Conclave will take place April 26 to 28 in Louisville, Kentucky, directly before the Kentucky Derby horse-racing event, AGS added.
