Press Release: Machinery is an integral part of the gems and jewelry sector, forming the very basis of this manufacturing-intensive industry. Sourcing the right equipment and keeping informed of the latest technical developments to run sophisticated machines used in the jewelry industry is of utmost importance to manufacturers. This coming year, during the Mumbai Jewellery & Gem Fair from January 5 to 7, 2013,  event organizer UBM will host a grand pavilion solely dedicated to machinery companies.

The gems and jewelry industry in India has enjoyed unprecedented growth in the past decade. Exports touched $42.84 billion (INR 2.05 trillion) in fiscal 2012, putting India firmly on the map as a major jewelry manufacturing hub. The growth in the sector was primarily driven by gold jewelry, which registered an increase of 30 percent in fiscal 2012.

UBM is the leading organizer of jewelry fairs with the Hong Kong shows in September and June being the most notable. Within India, UBM’s scope and demand for jewelry fairs is experiencing phenomenal growth with 400-plus participants and 25,000-plus buyers and sellers attending its three shows last year mainly, Gems & Jewellery India International Exhibition (GJIIE), Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl & Gem Fair (HJF) and its recently launched Delhi Jewellery & Gem fair (DJGF). The second edition of the upcoming Mumbai fair will add new prospects to the business for the gem and jewelry Industry right before wedding season.

“This association is the leading and first of its kind in the industry to promote and give importance to role of machinery. This will bring the entire machinery and allied companies under one roof for manufacturers and retailers across India,” said Ketan Jatakia of Ankitst Exim Inc., India’s leading machinery importer and exporters. “Such an initiative plays a vital role in bringing technology advancement to the Indian jewelry industry.”

At the exclusive Machinery Pavilion, visitors will be able to showcase their products in a healthy and competitive environment and exhibitors will reap the benefit of having greater visibility for their products and services.

International exhibitors will be afforded an enviable opportunity to display their product portfolios and service capabilities to the burgeoning Indian market. Making it that much easier for consumers to find what they need in terms of machinery or upgrades the pavilion will also provide a platform for like-minded businessmen and prospective clients to meet, interact and build new relationships.

Adopting new technology and respective gradation will help manufacturers and exporters compete in the international market and consequently grow exports.

“Machinery plays a very crucial role in the growth story of the Indian gems and jewelry industry. There is an opportunity for machinery companies to make the most of this support from UBM. This fair is a not-to-be-missed event for manufacturers and retailers,” said Radhe Kedia of Rank International, foremost machinery manufacturer.
