Former Alrosa USA president Rebecca Foerster has returned to the board of Diamonds Do Good (DDG) amid the addition of 10 new members to the panel for 2023, the organization said Sunday.

Foerster, who was named head of the nonprofit organization in 2021, agreed to step down last year following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and US sanctions on Alrosa. She then left the Russian miner a month later to take on the role of president at Chow Tai Fook-owned jewelry brand Hearts on Fire.

Anna Martin, senior vice president of institute and industry relations at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), will continue as DDG’s president.

“These incredible new board members [have a] range of talents and expertise,” said Martin. “All have expressed their passion for building the mission and impact of Diamonds Do Good around the world and sharing this impact with consumers.”

DDG was founded in 2007 as the Diamond Empowerment Fund. The organization supports initiatives to help people in countries with significant economic dependence on the diamond trade.

The nine new board members, aside from Foerster, are:

Mike Alexander, chief operating officer at Jewelers Mutual Group

Jack Gabriel, CEO of Gabriel & Co.

Stephanie Gottlieb, CEO of Stephanie Gottlieb

Bobbi Hansen, director of merchandising for Fred Meyer Jewelers

Ellen Junger, chief marketing officer at Helzberg Diamonds

Nilesh Kothari, managing director of Jewelex

Piyush Patel, a partner at Dharmanandan Diamonds

Craig Rottenberg, president of Long’s Jewelers

Dov Tannenbaum, a principal at Leo Schachter Diamonds
