Gitanjali Wins CSR Leadership Award

Press Release: Gitanjali Group, the world’s largest integrated branded jewelry manufacturer and retailer, has been awarded the CSR Leadership Award for its Saksham initiative by the Institute of Public Enterprise's (IPE) CSR Corporate Governance Awards 2012.

Under the Saksham initiative, Gitanjali has provided employment opportunities to more than a thousand people with disabilities at its own diamond and jewelry manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Surat and also trained these people for getting employment in other jewelry manufacturing companies.

The award is endorsed by World CSR Congress, World CSR Day, CMO Asia and Asian Confederation of Business. The award was conferred at a function held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai recently and was received by the Mayuri Asar, the head of CSR Division at Gitanjali Group.

The award merit recognition to contributions made by an organization, which has made a difference to the people and the community and played a role of responsible citizen. The awards are research based and decided by an independent jury with above perspective.

In 2009, Gitanjali Gems won the “Best Employer” award in the National Awards for the Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities conducted by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment  of India.

IPE Hyderabad is a non-profit educational society. IPE is the premier Business School at Hyderabad and is recognized as a "Centre of Excellence" by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi for doctoral studies. It has also been recognized by eight universities in India for guidance of Ph.D scholars.
