RAPAPORT... Diamcor Mining Inc. recovered two special-size diamonds of 10.8-carat-plus sizes from its Krone-Endora at Venetia project in South Africa.  The recovery included a  15.16-carat and a 13.38-carat diamond.

"The recovery of additional diamonds of this size confirm the ability of the project to produce large diamonds, and the potential positive impact the processing of larger size fractions can provide going forward," said Dean Taylor, the CEO of Diamcor. "We will continue our testing and commissioning efforts on both the expanded quarrying and in-field screening operations, as well as the main processing plant, with the goal being the efficient processing of all size fractions in the long term."

Diamcor also sold 3,123.32 carats of rough diamonds for proceeds of $415,495, or $133 per carat, from  Krone-Endora. The company estimated that approximately 50 percent of the rough diamonds sold were recovered from the re-treatment of previously processed ore.

Taylor said that the dollar-per-carat rate achieved from the sale exceeded their expectations given that the challenging operating circumstances during the quarter. Of the 6,702.90 carats tendered to date, approximately 500 individual rough diamonds have been recorded at 1 carat in size or larger.
