RAPAPORT... Tiffany & Co. will launch an exhibition in Shanghai, China, to celebrate the greatest jewelry masterpieces it has created over its 180 years.

The “Vision & Virtuosity” display, which will run from September 23 to November 10, will follow the history of some of the luxury jeweler’s most iconic pieces and moments.

“There are many incredible objects in the Tiffany archives that we draw inspiration from, and we are constantly finding ways to reinvent and reinterpret them for our designs today,” Tiffany’s chief artistic director, Reed Krakoff, said last month. “With this exhibition, we honor the past, and show how beauty and masterful craftsmanship are timeless and always relevant.”

The exhibition will feature several rooms devoted to important chapters in Tiffany’s history. A room dedicated to diamonds will display the jewelry company’s most important stones, from the Gilded Age through to Art Deco and contemporary designs, including the 128.54-carat, fancy-yellow Tiffany Diamond. The Tiffany Blue space highlights the color the retailer uses in all its branding, while the World of Tiffany area will cover its representation in popular culture, including its influence in film, television, music and literature, with a nod to all the influential people who have worn the jeweler’s pieces.

Other rooms will showcase the company’s original 1845 Blue Book, its first US mail-order catalog, the design of the first modern engagement ring, and a behind-the-scenes look at the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s, including the original script with Audrey Hepburn’s personal annotations.

“[The] two values — vision and virtuosity — lie at the heart of Tiffany & Co., and this exhibition represents the best of our brand,” added Tiffany CEO Alessandro Bogliolo.
