RAPAPORT... The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) will unveil a diamond-supply-chain-protection kit this month to help retailers understand the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) revised guidelines for natural and lab-grown stones.

The free tool, which aims to help protect the supply chain, comes with a handout that breaks down the exact wording retailers can and can’t use when advertising natural or lab-grown diamonds in print and in online marketing. It also contains templates of agreements companies can use when compiling codes of conduct for their suppliers, as well as non-disclosure contracts. Each one includes two versions: one for companies that sell only natural stones and another for businesses that carry both.

“We have distilled the best practices of the majors, specifically how they protect their supply chains and conduct negotiation with vendors,” JVC CEO Tiffany Stevens said last week. “We are so excited to launch this kit and offer that valuable information as an easy-to-use, free and high-impact package to all jewelry retailers across the country.”
