RAPAPORT... Alrosa has appointed Ravil Sanatulov to succeed Andrey Pismenny as general director of its Severalmaz mining division.

Sanatulov began his mining career with Alrosa in 1986 as an equipment engineer in Mirny, prior to being promoted to various positions, the company said Tuesday. In 2007, he was named director of Alrosa’s Aikhal mining division, a position he held until 2018, going on to serve as adviser to Alrosa CEO Sergey Ivanov.

“Ravil has extensive professional and managerial experience,” said Ivanov. “I am sure that his knowledge will be in demand…and will help Severalmaz to successfully solve all the strategic tasks facing [it].”

Pismenny is leaving Alrosa after 23 years with the company. He was appointed head of Severalmaz in 2015.

The Severalmaz mining division contributed 1.9 million carats of rough to Alrosa’s production in the first half of 2019. That figure, which was a 21% increase over the same period the year before, constituted 11% of the Russian miner’s total output for the period.
