This year’s Rapaport Breakfast will feature brief presentations from the honorable Onkokame Kitso Mokaila, Botswana’s Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources, and Vipul Shah Chairman of India’s Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council. Botswana is the world’s largest producer of rough diamonds and India is the world’s largest diamond manufacturing country.

Martin Rapaport’s annual “State of the Diamond Industry” address at the breakfast will focus on “The Last 18 Inches” highlighting the vital importance of retail jewelers who move diamonds across the 18 inch jewelry counter to the consumer. He will highlight the strategic challenges and opportunities facing jewelers while providing practical suggestions of what jewelers can and should do to improve their business.

How can the numerous international organizations working on social responsibility cooperate and harmonize their activities? What role can and should Chain of Custody standards play in ensuring the legitimacy of jewelry products?
