GJEPC Elects New Chairman

RAPAPORT... The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has elected Colin Shah to succeed Pramod Agrawal as chairman.

Shah, the organization’s former vice chairman, will serve a two-year term from 2020 to 2022, the GJEPC said last week. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the elections were held via an online voting process from March 20 to 26.

Meanwhile, Vipul Shah, the CEO of jewelry retailer Asian Star, will be vice chairman. He previously held the role of GJEPC chairman in 2012.

Other members of the new committee include Chirag Lakhi, who was elected to the diamond panel, and Suvankar Sen, who will head the gold-jewelry and other-precious-metals panels in the special economic zones (SEZ) category.

Other elected members are:

Shailesh Sangani: gold jewelry panel and other precious metal jewelry panel
Mahendra Agarwal: colored gemstones panel and pearls panel
Ram Babu Gupta: Silver Jewelry Panel
Badri Narayanan Gupta: synthetic stones/costume fashion jewelry & sales to foreign tourist panel
Ashok Seth: regional chairman — northern region
Nirmal Kumar Bardiya: regional chairman — Rajasthan region
Prakash Chandra Pincha: regional chairman — eastern region
Mahender Kumar Tayal: regional chairman — southern region
Dineshbhai Ramjibhai Navadiya: regional chairman — Gujarat region
Ashokbhai Gajera: regional chairman — western region
