RAPAPORT... Bonhams has hired Hans-Kristian Hoejsgaard, the former CEO of Baselworld owner MCH Group, as its chairman. He will replace Bruno Vinciguerra, who became global CEO of the auction house earlier this year.

Hoejsgaard is the chairman of Swiss lingerie and textile company Calida Group, as well as non-executive director of MCH Group and Barclays Bank Switzerland, Bonhams said last week. He was most recently CEO of cigar and accessories brand Davidoff.

“[Hoejsgaard’s] direct experience of the art market and broader global luxury-goods track record will be invaluable to us as we progress the transformation of Bonhams,” said Vinciguerra.

Meanwhile, Vinciguerra, who took over as executive chairman following the auction house’s acquisition by Epiris in 2018, will focus on overhauling the company, Bonhams noted. Changes to the company will include the creation of new digital-marketing platforms and a reworking of the technology.

“The appointment of Hans-Kristian as non-executive chairman and Bruno as CEO, coupled with the recruitment and development of a top-quality group of further senior executives, provides Bonhams with a world-class leadership team as it continues its ambitious and successful development,” said Alex Fortescue, managing partner of Epiris.
