Queen Faces Lawsuit Over Return of Koh-i-Noor Diamond

RAPAPORT... Queen Elizabeth II is facing a lawsuit from Bollywood stars
and Indian businessmen insisting the Koh-i-Noor diamond be returned to its home
country.
The group has hired lawyers to start legal proceedings in
London’s High Court, claiming the 105.6-carat stone was “stolen” from its true home in India, according to The Mail on Sunday, citing Satish Jakhu of Birmingham law firm Rubric Lois King. They have called
the group the “Mountain of Light,” a translation of the stone’s name.
Koh-i-Noor was owned by a succession of rulers across Asia
for hundreds of years before becoming part of the crown jewels of England. The Queen
Mother wore the diamond in her crown at the coronation of her husband King
George VI in 1937 and again at the coronation of Queen Elizabeth in 1953.
