RAPAPORT... The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) has appointed Raluca Anghel to fill a new post as head of external affairs and industry relations, starting November 1.

Anghel will be based in London, reporting to CEO Jean-Marc Lieberherr, the DPA said Thursday. She will oversee the organization’s interactions with major trade bodies to ensure the industry works together. Her role includes leading the DPA’s global public-affairs agenda in areas such as terminology, and taking charge of the Assure program for testing synthetics detectors. She will also head the group’s communications activities in Europe.

“There is a great need and opportunity for all major industry organizations to work closely together on progressing a joint agenda,” Lieberherr said. “Raluca’s collaborative style and strong communications background will make her an important asset not only to the DPA but to the industry as a whole.”

Anghel previously held positions at Microsoft Europe and, more recently, with the European Parliament.

Her appointment comes shortly after the DPA announced that former Watches of Switzerland and Ralph Lauren marketer David Kellie would join the association as CEO in December, succeeding Lieberherr.
